Our Commitment to Responsible Gaming
Lucky Puck is dedicated to ensuring that participation in our weekly charity draw remains an enjoyable and positive experience. We believe that charitable gaming should always be a voluntary choice that fits comfortably within your personal circumstances and financial situation.
While supporting BC communities through our draw is meaningful, it's essential that your participation never compromises your personal well-being or financial stability.
Guidelines for Balanced Participation
Set Clear Personal Boundaries
Before participating, establish limits that work for your situation:
- Budget Limits: Determine an amount you're comfortable spending on charitable draws without impacting essential expenses
- Time Limits: Decide how often you'll participate (weekly, monthly, occasionally)
- Frequency Monitoring: Keep track of your participation patterns
- Review Regularly: Reassess your limits periodically to ensure they remain appropriate
Recognize Your Motivations
Healthy participation means:
- Viewing it as entertainment and community support, not income generation
- Participating because you want to, not because you feel you must
- Accepting that winning is a possibility, not an expectation
- Feeling comfortable with the amount you choose to spend
Warning Signs to Watch For
Consider pausing your participation if you notice any of these indicators:
- Spending more than you initially planned or can afford
- Feeling stressed or anxious about draw results
- Participation interfering with work, relationships, or daily responsibilities
- Using money intended for bills or necessities
- Trying to recover previous spending by participating more frequently
- Hiding your participation from family or friends
- Feeling unable to stop or reduce your participation
- Borrowing money to purchase entries
If any of these apply to you, we strongly encourage you to reach out to support services and consider self-exclusion options.
Self-Assessment Tools
Check Your Participation Health
Ask yourself these questions honestly:
- Do I participate only with money I can afford to lose?
- Can I easily skip a draw without feeling uncomfortable?
- Does my participation fit comfortably within my budget?
- Am I participating for the right reasons (community support, entertainment)?
- Have I shared my participation openly with family or friends?
If you answered "no" to any of these questions, it may be time to reassess your participation.
